BBC Showcase Gala Dinners - BBC Worldwide
Since 2005, Anagram has been the sole technical suppler for the BBC Showcase Gala dinners. Hosted from the Brighton Grand Hotel, Showcase consists of four themed evenings to promote key new programming to 450 invited trade buyers. The backdrop to the evening dinners is the daytime Showcase exhibition and screenings, held in the Brighton Exhibition Centre.
Showcase requires the full range of services to be called upon. Anagram design the environment, construct the staging and install the infrastructure for four consecutive gala dinners. Each night is unique; based around a different television programme theme from the current programming. The video installation includes the installation of multiple widescreen projection screens for replaying promotional video footage and a multi camera shoot. Since 2006 the video projection has been in High Definition to reflect the number of new programmes being shot in that format.
The sound system has to handle speech from multiple presenters, video replay and various types of entertainment from individual performers to headline acts.The lighting is a flexible installation, based around a white cyc which completely covers one wall of the venue. This can be lit in numerous ways to complement the room design for each night. In addition, multiple trusses are flown to provide support for 'TV Style' lighting for the live cameras and also to mount entertainment lighting for the various artists and performers.
