2Entertain DVD Launch – BBC Worldwide
Each year 2Entertain, BBC Worldwide’s commercial partner in DVD sales, launch their Christmas catalogue to 150 trade buyers. The event features screenings of sample material and Q&A discussions with the program makers and featured celebrities.
This year the event was held in the film projection theatre at the Soho Hotel, London. Anagram provided all the production including AV, sound, lighting and staging.
The source material is mostly in High Definition format and so Anagram used a Barco Screenpro2 HD switcher to control the playback sources involving HD tape and Apple Macs playing back the HD content with Flash playback and graphics from PCs. This fed the installed HD cinema projector via fibre DVI distribution.
The audio design used the installed theatre surround-sound system supplemented with some additional discrete loudspeakers for voice reinforcement. A Yamaha LS9 digital mixing desk was used to help keep the front of house footprint very small yet give “big desk” facilities like time-delays to re-synchronise video and audio from the various sources.
Custom staging and masking was produced for the crew area to enable a very compact control position to be built to avoid impacting on seated area.
